1. Jagjit Singh--born as Jagmohan Singh--obtained an arts degree from DAV College in Jallandhar.


2. He began his professional career in 1961 by undertaking singing and composing assignments at All India Radio's (AIR) Jallandhar station.


3. He is the only composer and singer to have composed and recorded songs written by former Prime Minister of India Atal Bihari Vajpayee, also a poet - in two albums, Nayi Disha (1999) and Samvedna (2002).



4. In February 2014, Government of India released a postal stamp Jagjit Singh's his honour.


5. In his initial days in Mumbai, Jagjit Singh used to make a living by composing jingles and performances at weddings.


6. Jagjit Singh's wife Chitra Singh gave up singing after the tragic incident and 'Someone Somewhere' was the last album that the duo recorded together.


7. It was Jagjit Singh who started the practice of paying lyricists a part of an album's earnings.


8. In 1987, Jagjit Singh became the first Indian musician to record a purely digital CD album, titled 'Beyond Time'.


9. Famous Bollywood playback singer Kumar Sanu was offered his first break by Jagjit Singh.

10. The tickets for Jagjit Singh's concert "Live at Royal Albert Hall" in 1982 were sold out in three hours.
